Humanizing Pedagogy is a position paper authored by Evan Gutiérrez and Carly Muetterties, founders of CommonGood, a learning design company grounded in creating curriculum and instructional resources for diverse communities. The paper speaks to the power of relevance, representation, and new theories about teachers and curriculum. There's promising evidence that when those ideas get applied, there is trajectory-altering power for students. We led the visual design of the paper in collaboration with Evan and Carly, as well as renowned artist, Sam Kirk.
